Cultural Trips and Excursions

Best Time: November to March

 

This trip covers the major cultural sightseeing and excursion destinations that highlight the socio-cultural heritage, natural scenic places and wildlife of Nepal. The age-old tradition of Kathmandu valley, old palace squares, historical temple/shrine complexes, monasteries, Valley view points etc. are all combined for your sightseeing. After Kathmandu, the trip proceeds to Pokhara, 200km.west of Kathmandu. Pokhara is a beautiful lake valley in the lap of Annapurna Himalayas. After visiting Pokhara, we will proceed to Chitwan National Park for safari tour and wildlife viewing. Chitwan is home to many rare wild animals including the famous Royal Bengal Tiger, one-horned rhino, spouted deer, crocodiles and more than 450 species of colorful birds. Another 5/6-hours scenic drive from Chitwan to Dhulikhel hill town for an overnight. The best view of Himalayan panorama can observe from here on clear weather day. The last day will be free for your self-activities or shopping before you leave Nepal for your home or next destination.


Itinerary

DAY 01 – ARRIVAL IN KATHMANDU

Upon arrival at airport, meet at airport and greet transfer to your hotel.

 

DAY 02 – KATHMANDU

After breakfast at hotel, about 9 am we proceed to visit Kathmandu Durbar Squares – the old palace complexes and temples located in the center of Kathmandu old city. After Kathmandu DS, we will continue to visit the glorious Buddhist temple “Swayambhunath stupa”, also called as the Monkey Temple. Swayambhunath stupa was built in 1st century and one of the most important places of the Buddhist people. Afternoon, we will visit Patan Durbar Squares, the old palace of Patan and temple complexes. Patan is well known as city of art and architecture. Return to hotel for rest and leisure…full day sightseeing tour of Swayambhunath stupa and Patan city – Durbar Squares.

 

DAY 03 - KATHMANDU

As usual, after breakfast, we proceed to visit Pashupatinath Temple complexes and crematories sites, Hindus and some Buddhists cremate death bodies at this site and one can observe this area openly. After Pashupatinath, we will visit the 5th century’ Bouddhanath stupa, the largest Buddhist shrine or stupa in Nepal. It is also called “little Tibet” to this area due to many Tibetans settlement around Bouddhanath area. After visiting this wonderful shrine, we will drive to Bhudhanilkantha, the sleeping Vishnu. This is a master peace of stone carving of a Hindu God “Vishnu” build in 5th century. Return to the hotel and rest.

 

DAY 04 – KATHMANDU – POKHARA

200 km, this is a day long scenic drives riving about 6-hours to Pokhara, the city of lakes.  En route we visit Manakamana temple by Cable Car. Manakamana temple is one of the most powerful goddesses for Nepalese and all Hindus/Buddhist as well. We believe that anything you wish from your pure mind with this Goddess, she will full-fill. Therefore, Manakamana is a wish full-filling goddess. In the evening we will arrive to Pokhara. Pokhara is second tourist hob in Nepal and get way to the Annapurna Himalayan ranges and trekking. Upon arrival in Pokhara - check into your hotel.

 

DAY 05 – POKHARA

Sightseeing of important places, excursion to Sarangkot hill (include hiking 2 hours), the famous hill station for Sunrise view over the Himalayas, boating on Phewa Lake.

 

DAY 06 – POKHARA

Hiking to World Peace pagoda (2-3 hrs), visit to International Mountain Museum which can be very interesting to know all about mountaineers and history about mountain climbing, people and culture. Late afternoon free time for self-activities…

 

DAY 07 - POKHARA – LUMBINI

After breakfast at hotel, today is a long day but scenic driving tour (280km, about 7-hrs scenic drive by private car/coach) as crossing through river valleys and small markets towns from Pokhara to Lumbini. Lumbini is birthplace of Lord Buddha. It is one of the world heritage sites in Nepal get-way to Buddhist world and teaching. Upon arrival, Check into your hotel.

 

DAY 08 – LUMBINI – CHITWAN NP

After visiting the birthplace of Lord Buddha and surrounding area in the morning, we proceed to drive to Chitwan National Park and arrive there for lunch. Afternoon rest and some brief information about the park by the local guides or staffs from the Safari hotel or resort.

 

DAY 09 – CHITWAN NP

Full day guided safari activities; include Elephant ride, Jungle walk, Canoeing, Animal and Bird Watching and evening local Tharu cultural show…

 

DAY 10 – CHITWAN – BHAKTAPUR

Today we are re-directing our trip back to Kathmandu valley and stop for overnight at Bhaktapur. Bhaktapur or also called as Bhadgoan is one of the most preserved ancient towns or palace squares in Kathmandu valley. The town is listed in the World heritages sites. Overnight at a medium hotel or guest house (there is no choice of deluxe hotel at Bhaktapur.

 

DAY 11 – BHAKTAPUR – DHULIKHEL

After breakfast and morning exploring Bhaktapur, we will further drive to hill stationDhulikhel. Dhulikhel is one of the famous hill towns in Nepal. It is clean with fresh air and one can view sunset and sunrise from here if weather is clear. Over night at a resort.

 

DAY 12 – DHULIKHEL – CHANGU NARAYAN – KATHMANDU

After breakfast and morning view from Dhulikhel, the trip will drive to the famous Hindu Temple of Changu Narayan Temple situated on a hillock north of Bhaktapur town. Afternoon drive back to Kathmandu. Rest and overnight.

 

DAY 13 – KATHMANDU

Excursion trip to Dakshinkali temple, Pharping village and en route Chovar gorge. Dakshinkali is one of the power goddesses of Nepal and people sacrifice animal to the goddess. It can be very interesting to observe the site for European or western people to explore the different culture. Pharping village near by Dhkshinkali temple is a Monastery village as there are several Buddhist Monasteries and prays halls. Chovar Gorge is only place that all water sources drain out of Kathmandu valley.

 

DAY 14 – KATHMANDU

Free Day - this is the day for your self-activities, walking to old cities, shopping etc.

Evening a Traditional Cultural Dance Show with Nepali Dinner.

 

DAY 15 - DEPARTURE FROM KATHMANDU

After breakfast and according to your international flight time, we will transfer to airport for your flight back home or next destination. End of the trip – Namaste!
